WB – Colombia Tour – Day 6

Tonight was game 2 in the tournament against Polytechnic. The tournament is being held at the University of Medellin Coliseum.

We jumped out to an early lead and never looked back. Based on the other games that we have seen, the game tomorrow night will be against the best team in the tournament.

Caitlyn shared her testimony to the fans, families, and students who came out to watch the tournament. She did a great job of standing at center court with a microphone as she shared how Jesus is changing her life.

For most of our team this is the first time they have publically shared their testimony is a venue like this. It is encouraging to see the “body of Christ” in the form of a team encourage each other as one of them steps out in faith to share their story.

Personally I enjoy the evangelism at half time, but I love the time after the game when our team has the opportunity to sit with the other team for 10 minutes and share. After the game we shake hands with the other team and then go over and sit in front of their bench. (We do have permission from the opposing coach.) Tonight Anna shared her story with the other team. And the reason that I love it is because it is so personal.

The other team is genuinely interested as our girls share summary of their life story and how Jesus has impacted it. They get an up close glimpse into the life of someone from our team that they just played a whole game against. They get to hear that there is more to life than being defined by a sport.

We have become accustomed to a little restaurant next to where we are staying. It is a mom and pop type place where the food is great. They are so excited to have us and we love the variety of Colombian food that we get to experience. One of the team favorites is…well I’m not sure what it is called, but it looks like a smashed and fried banana.

Praise:

1. The team is physically healthy. We have a few bumps and bruises, but that is sports.

2. There have been some huge personal breakthroughs for some of our girls as the team has been learning more about having a personal quite time.

Prayer Requests:

1. Please pray that God would show Himself in a real way as He promised to do. Ellen is encouraging and leading our team to be real and deal with God at a heart level.

2. Pray for the church that will follow up with the people who have indicated on their comment cards they want to know more about Jesus.
