WB - Colombia Tour - Day 9

We were up early to go to the University to give a coaching clinic as well as a medical clinic. Our trainer Cate was so excited and blessed to have a local missionary girl as her translator. It was fun to hear how Cate (having grown up in the middle east) and this girl were able to share so many similar stories and were mutually encouraged! Just another one of our many Divine appointments…go Jesus!

There were able 300 people at the clinics and games. The gym we played in was ½ outside as the walls were open. We had new experiences learning to keep score using a slide-rule (like the old school calculator where you slide beads to keep count!), as well as playing in the dark for the entire fourth quarter as the power turned off with a huge bang. Thank the Lord the game was semi-outside.

The game was physical, with Ellen taking a hit to the face and having her arm held almost an entire length of the court…new Colombian rules I guess! Cate shared her testimony at ½ time and Caitlyn was able to share with the team after the game. Many people from the local church were there to cheer for us and help us gather contact information for all of the interested parteipants and fans.

Having two native Colombians on our team, they are always excited to give us new experiences. When we got all cleaned up and back to the hotel they told us they had a surprise for us. We exited the hotel to the sound of loud Salsa music and saw a Chivas bus that had been rented just for us. Picture a bus with open sides and no seats creating a dance floor with a disco ball and smoke blowing all through the bus for added effect. We then had a tour of the city while professional salsa dancers taught us the latest moves J. Good times trying to trade in our defensive slides for the Colombian salsa two step. Many thanks to Erika and Janet for helping us with our moves!!
