Tired Legs and Gifts in Nicaragua

Well, we're a little late getting this blog up for Wednesday.  Paige and Emily were going to write it and had a good start but someone erased it before they were able to finish.  The girls tried to redo it later but someone else was using the computer so they weren't able to do it.  I (Matt) am going to do this quickly before we leave this morning.  We had another good day although Ellie wasn't feeling well (headache and sore throat) so she stayed home all day.  By evening, she finally perked back up.

In the morning, we had a rematch with the girls from Monday.  It was apparent that we had tired legs and were not as competitive as Monday.  As a result, we lost 7-2.  It was fun, though, as there was a large crowd of students watching.  At the conclusion of the game, we presented the school with 4 soccer balls and a bag to hold them.  They were very grateful to receive them.  It is a poor community and the used balls that we gave them were far better than anything they had.  We are also leaving team uniforms for them.  Currently,  they have no uniforms to play games in.

Our morning activities did not last very long so the team had extra time to rest before the afternoon events.  THis was very good for us.  The team is learning how to allow God's Spirit to provide extra strength when needed.

In the afternoon, we went to a different school.  We were able to share with about 180 students in 6 different classrooms.  Tabi and Katie even got the nerve to share part of their testimony in Spanish.  That was a big faith step for them.  We are encouraging the girls to take steps of faith where they have to rely on God and they are experiencing God in news as they do that.  After sharing in the classrooms, the girls played a game with the girls from the school.  We won 2-0.  After the girls played, the boys wanted to play as well.  So Jerry, Mario (one of our translaters), and I joined 2 of the school's teachers to play the boys at the school.  Tabi and Katie also played with us.  The boys delivered a beating to us 7-0.  Us old guys just couldn't quite keep up.  Fortunately, Jerry had taped up his ankle earlier but it was still pretty sore after the game.  He twisted the ankle pretty good during training camp.  We were also able to leave soccer balls and a bag at this school as well.

The girls continue to have a blast with each other.  They are getting along very well.  A group of 18 arrived very late from Colorado.  They will be doing ministry with a church in the area.  It's been fun to get acquianted with them.
