It’s amazing the things you can learn in just one week’s time. Seven
days ago, I met ten girls who were complete strangers at an airport in
Newark. Since that time, I’ve learned a lot about myself, the German
culture and a group of girls I now call my friends. We’ve been able to
challenge each other in our faith as well as on the court. It’s so
encouraging to be a part this team, knowing that we share the same
passion of spiritual growth and basketball improvement.
This trip has opened my eyes in many ways and here are just a few things I’ve learned:
• cars have precedence over pedestrians in Germany
• the Lord is alive and active in my life
• my own Christian community stretches far beyond my family and friends
• basketball can be used as an avenue to affect others’ lives
• lunchmeat sandwiches are allowed to be considered breakfast
• prayer is possibly one of the most powerful ways we can impact this world
• never block a bike path
• Christ can be seen in all people no matter what language they speak
• if you shot fake and dribble it’s always a travel
• spiritual exercise is more important than physical exercise
• thank goodness for our German/Turkish speaking members of our group
The memories and experiences of this trip so far can not be paralleled with any road trip I’ve ever taken.
p.s. mom, trent, steph, jon, kev, and d…love you and miss you!
