We're back!
Yes, Team Kenya 2008 has returned to terra firma here in the USA. We were sad to leave Kenya, but excited to return to see family and friends. Of course, our return trip wasn't without some excitement of its own. An hour or so after we left Zurich, the captain came over the intercom to inform us that we would be making an unscheduled stop in London in order to fix a problem with the plane's hydraulic system. Minor details! After two hours on the tarmac (and not being allowed to deplane), we took off again, but with the delay those of us with connections in DC of course missed them, and the Washington contingent was forced to spend the night in DC before continuing on to Seattle. However, all's well that ends well, and we're all now safely back at home.
So, we're back - the same, yet different, and our prayer is that our time in Kenya blessed AIA's ministry there and the people of Kenya, as we were definitely blessed by them. We're excited to see what God does over the next few years with the seeds we've planted. Already, we've seen some of the members of the Kenyan Junior National Team whom we got to know quite well during our time in Kenya make an impact athletically, as Josphat and Titus went 1-2 in the 10,000m at the World Junior Championships in Poland yesterday.
Our prayer is that they'll continue to develop spiritually as well as physically, and that they will use their platform to spread the Good News of Jesus Christ. One final note: although the trip is now officially over, keep checking out the blog as we hope to post a few more entries covering the last few days of our trip, including our safari to Masai Mara, where we got to see lions, elephants, giraffes, water buffaloes, etc. up close and personal....
