Moldova: Room For More

Hey Everyone,

It has been a busy last couple of days so I will do my best to let you know what has gone on.

Yesterday (Wednesday) we played the Moldova National Team.  It was a very close game throughout and it came down to the last play.  We were down by 3 with about 15 seconds left and Steve got fouled shooting a 3.  He made the first two and missed the last.  We got the rebound and must have had atleast 5 opportunities to hit a game winning shot but we didn't.  So we lost by 1.  It was a good game and we got to have lunch with the team after the game at....you guessed it ANDY'S PIZZA.

After lunch we went to our neighborhoods and playe basketball with the kids. It was our second day there so relationships are starting to develop betwen us an the kids.  After the Sonrise project ended some of us went downtown to watch the Soccer game with some of the members of the national team and it was fun to hang out with them.

It seems that everywhere we go we have to take what is called a MaxiTaxi.  It is basically a van that seats about 14 and 5 or so more can stand.  But here in Moldova they fit way more than 20.  The other day we had our whole team (coachs and staff included) in one and as people kept getting on it seemed like there was atleast 35 people in the taxi.  No matter how full it gets the driver just keeps letting people on.  Just thought I'd share that fun experience with you guys.

The game we were supposed to play today got cancelled.  So our last game is against the National Team tomorrow (Friday).  So I hope we can pull out the victory.

Oh just to follow up on one of my earlier blogs, Excuse me are you 23?  I was talking to one of the people at the Sonrise project and told them about our scavenger hunt.  I told them about the question we had to ask about age.  They then told me that asking a girl her age is one of the rudest things you can say to a girl.  So that explains why everytime we asked a girl how old she was they turned away and didn't talk to us.  I guess our friends in Moldova AIA wanted to play a trick on us....haha.

Well that's it for now.  My timer on my internet cafe computer is up so I have to go.

In His Grip,

Zach- Romans 10:14-15
