Catching-up in Central America

Greeting from Gautemala City where the sun shines during the day and the rains come in the evenings.  We are winding down our time here in Central America, with only 2 days left the guys are still standing strong and playing hard.  Today in Thursday and we have the entire morning off the guys are excited about just hanging out some are going to the mall some are resting and others are just being :0).  Let me catch you up on the past few days.   After our day off and our trip to Antigue on Monday, we found ourselves back there the next day getting the royal treatment from people with the basketball federation and the tour guide from the govenors office.  We met with one of the head news reporters and shared with him with we will be doing in their area he was excited as we gave him a copy of the Struggle and Triumph DVD he said that he would broadcast it that night at 8p.m. on their local station (Go Jesus).  we traved abotu 10  min to a town named (Sacatepequez) where we did a clinic for about 35 of the local basketball students.  this was a lot of fun for our guys.  The most exciting part of the clinic was that (Alijah) the 11 year old son of Al G. (director) shared his testimony with the young participants is was neat to hear him share how he asked Christ to come into his heart.  When then took on the local team after close to an hour delay because the basket would not raise up to the correct height, with the help of our coach Ryan woh showed off his spiderman skills and several other guys holding and pushing the basket upward we were able to get it to 9 feet.  Our guys did well shooting on the different heights of the baskets and went on to win by 20 points.  Micheal Quartel(Canada) did a great job sharing his testiomny.  We followed-up with another exciting day on Wed.  as we traveled to a town named (Escuintla) 45 min south of Guatemala City, I think the name meant (VERY HOTTTTT and HUMID) we began to sweat before getting off the bus.  We did a clinic for about 45 kids.  It was another good time and Chris Thele shared his stroy which was followed by the gospel in which 4 people raised their hands saying that hey had prayed to recieve Christ.  Then came the Game and also the rain.  Our guys were excited as people began to arrive as well as a guy with a pair of 3 foot tall speakers and a Cd mixer (Music)  our guys had a blast even in the mist of 3 power outages the lasted about 5-10 min without any lights in the gym, but we still had the (loud) music.  Our guys went on to win by 25 points.  We now have a day off as we prepare for 3 game in 3 duay to conclude our time here.  Please continue to pray for good health and us to finish strong.

All For Christ <><
