So last night we stayed at Kip Keino's house/Olympic training center just outside Eldoret in the Rift Valley region of Kenya (ancestral homeland of the Kalenjin, the tribe from which the vast majority of Kenya's distance runners hail). After dinner, we decided to take a look at the coffee table book sitting in the lounge, Kenya the Beautiful. Below are some pictures from the book for those of you back home in the States who are curious as to what Kenya looks like. (Please excuse the graffiti on some of the pages.)
Oh, and yeah, I've got a bunch more photos like these - what you see above is just a random sampling of the people who've signed the "guest book" at Kip's house. Pretty much every Kenyan distance runner of note, save Kip himself and the great Paul Tergat. (And in case you're wondering, no, none of us felt worthy yet to add our autographs to the collection.) Humbling and inspiring, to say the least!
Hi David and the team, Wow! What incredible experiences! It sounds like God is working in you and through you. Try to soak it all in and know we are keeping you in our prayers at home. God bless you this 4th of July! Love, Doug and Kathy (David's mom and dad)
